The assault to take Orgrimmar back from the Warchief begins. With it, new sources for mog gear. There is a good article on wowhead showing all the items that can be earned via participation in the escalation. They also have a rundown of the PvE content that will be available today here.
The newest feature, and probably the greatest time saving feature this patch comes in the form of void storage and bank direct transmogrification. That's right folks, you too can mog with just a click! No more flying or riding back and forth, and no more costly withdrawals from the Ethereal bankers. Time for some late spring cleaning to make sure you have room for all those wonderful pieces!
Now, to that sticky mess known as PvP. In an effort to make players stand on more equal footing, the majority of resilience is being moved to the player from the gear. This means that being caught be a player in full PvP gear does not guarantee that you'll be killed in a single crowd control effect, at least that is the concept. Blizzard has said that the data for PvP on development servers is generally small, so most of the play testing for it will begin today. Personally, the change appears to be a good thing. Even though my gear is mainly PvP, going against melee PvE players usually ends in their death. However, casters in PvE gear may see little reason to downgrade to PvP gear now that item levels will outstrip PvP gear considerably. That very thing occurred in the final patch of Cataclysm. We can only hope that Blizzard will keep a keen eye on players gear choices and damage output.
Servers should be up soon, however a smooth patch day is a rare occurrence, indeed.
