Lately, my expansion plans have panned out to quite a bit of gold. I estimate, very conservatively, that since I've started in the transmogrification business I have acquired nearly 20+ million gold. I spend it constantly, either on investments for future sale or on thing my friends or myself are missing from their mount and pet journals. Many times I'll build up a pile on a server, get some good deals on something my friends have been wanting, then spend all of the it and rebuild the pile again. Rinse and repeat.
My goal is to have at least 10 million liquid gold, with at least 100,000 gold per faction, per server. A lofty goal, but I'm sitting at nearly 7 million gold and with the end of the expansion looming, so sales of transmogrification, pets, and rare recipes are steadily increasing. I'm currently investing in raid pets, mostly on the speculation that after the expansion's end, they will begin to drop in availability. It doesn't always turn out that way, though I've seen a steady drop in the availability of pets from Throne of Thunder, and that was just a couple patches ago.
The above information is just to let you know I'm serious about sharing what I am planning to do. So here is the premise: I am going to roll a death knight on a server I've never been on before, one death knight per faction, and I am going to tweet my little heart out over on the Mog's Addiction Twitter page, under the heading of #just20silver. Why 20 silver? Well, if you roll a death knight, the Lich King has seen fit to grant you 20 silver pieces for betraying the living. I think it would have been amazing if he had given you 30 silver pieces, since even Judas wasn't that cheap.
Along the way, I am going to link to the tools I use for every step of the process. I guarantee you it will include The Undermine Journal, Realm Pop, and the Warcraft Mobile Armory. The term "indispensable" doesn't even begin to describe those tools, though I used to only use the Warcraft Mobile Armory to trade, so it can be done without other tools. You just have to have an eye for what fashion is in demand and go from there.
For this project I will not be using the following: Battle pets, begging, account wide items, vendor items, or anything that adds to my gold total which did not originate from the auction house. (Updated) No vendor items, e.g. stripping naked and vendoring my gear. I can vendor stuff from the auction house. Sorry that wasn't clear. :p
So there you have it, the first step is to select a realm... Ragnaros - US! Why? Because It's medium-high population on Horde side, with a solid medium Alliance population. Will it give up the gold, or will I wither under Acherus. Lets find out, shall we?
